I'm presently beginning to look at notes left by a great aunt, Leona May Card Watson, re her mother's families, which resided in or in the vicinity of Noxubee County. Leona's mother was Sarah Alice Blackwell (1870-1941); Sarah Alice's parents were Johnathan Warren Blackwell (d. about 1876) and Nancy Jane LaGrone (d. about 1910.) I am interested in both families, but of the two I have more re the Blackwells. According to Leona Card Watson's notes, the family arose from two Virginia-born brothers, Johnathan Warren Blackwell and Wiley Blackwell. Wiley Blackwell married a Bettie LaGrone, but I have no further information re him or his descendents. Johnathan is said to have fought in the Civil War alongside Elias Johnson Card (also of Noxubee County); he was the husband of Nancy Jane LaGrone and had the following children. Sarah Alice Blackwell (m. Thomas Johnson Card; I know this particular line of descent, for it is my own and I would be glad to share with any one else who is interested) Willie Josephine Blackwell (m 1st to ? Placeo; m. 2nd to John Moon) Maggie Hill Blackwell (m Charles Murphy) John Lee Blackwell (m. Hannah Harriet Herring; daughter, Gladys Blackwell; believed to have moved to Oklahoma City, OK) Charles Edmund "Ed" Blackwell (m. Edna Echols; m. Josephine LaGrone) Addie Blackwell Nancy Blackwell If any one in the e-mail ring knows anything more of these families I would be glad to hear it!
