    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Glass, Monroe Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QKB.2ACI/362.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Tess, where do you access the census records? I do not know what county the Glass family may have been from, I just know there were not many in Newton Co., where my James J Monroe lived. He was a prominent lawyer, then a senator when his 1st wife died in 1861, leaving him with 12 children. He may have had to go to a neighboring county to find a wife, and she must have been a widow with her son Tom, but evidently still child bearing age because she had a son Walter Lee Monroe in 1863, then she died. James Monroe died in 1867 and the 13 Monroe children came to TX in 1872, without step-brother Tom Glass. He may have been in an older married sister or grandfather's household in 1870, age at least 9 yrs. I know one way to find someone is to rule out those he CAN'T be, so ANY info is a CLUE, and I thank you so much for the time. Since I live in TX I don't have the freedom to research in MS as much as I would like. Do you have access to older newspapers, specifically the Meridian M! ercury? This is the paper that served Newton Co in the 1860's, and I'm looking for obits. Thanks again, Fran
