Al. and family tradition says that his father was George Brandon.George died in Pickens Co.1849-1850. His family is not listed in the 1850 census of Pickens,Green, or any other County nearby.In the 1860 his widow Elizabeth(Davis?) Brandon is in Noxubee Co. Ms listed with several of her children.My ggrandfather Simpson S. and James M.(Murphy)"Koger"Brandon. Family tradition handed down by Simp was that he had a sister named Caroline.According to the census of Pickens Co. Al.1840 there were several daughters.I feel that the Caroline who married Maxfield Bell might have been Elizabeth's daughter.He also said he had a sister who married a Davis.This family seemed to go back and forth between Noxubee and Pickens and Lowndes Co. Ms. On Simpson's pension Application he stated he was born Green Co. Al Oct 24, 1846.He signed up in Macon, to fight during the CW.He did draw a pension and after his death his widow Hattie Brandon drew one until her death about 1947 in Pickens Co. Al. The known children are John Franklin Brandon born SC about 1831, married Ruth Quick daughter of Martin Quick.Noxubee Co. They are buried in Pickens Co. Al George (W.?) Brandon married Medora Davis Noxubee Co. Simpson S. Brandon 1st married in Pickens Co. Al to Nancy____?They were living in Green Co. Al 1870.They had one child.Both mother and child died of a fever. Simpson S. Brandon 2nd marriage to Jane Elizabeth Duncan in Pickens Co.Al Feb 10,1876. Five children= William Henry "Willie" Brandon Frances Belle/Bell Brandon born Dec 25,1880 (my grandmother) died Jan 1957 in Jackson, Ms. Ollie Brandon (she died at age 16) Luther Franklin Brandon died at his sisters funeral 1957 Jackson, Ms. Lillie Bell Brandon born 1891 died in Utah. He was to marry twice more before his death.Fourth wife Harriet Rebecca Taylor, two children Virginia Hill Brandon, and Melrose Shelton Brandon of Pickens Co. Al James Murphey Brandon born about 1849-1850 was living with his mother Elizabeth in the 1870 census of Noxubee Co.I have no record of Elizabeth after that census. In 1880 both S.S and James M. "Koger" Brandon are living together with their wives and Simp's son William in Pickens Co. Al. James Murphey Brandon died in Pickens Co. Al Dec of 1936. I am going to send for his death certificate to see if his father's and mother's names are listed by his third wife Ortha Weathers. Weathers According to the 1850 census of Noxubee Co. there are no Brandons of any spelling.Yet the early marriages of the Brandon girls. This was sent to me from Noxubee Co. Many years ago. Estate of Rebecca Brandon, Noxubee Co. Ms Case No 668, 2 May 1856. Petition by John B. Brandon, states that his wife Rebecca, died some years since leaving a small estate and two children. Case #901 Noxubee Co. Ms.= Sarah J. Brandon John Brandon, John C.Franklin and Robert Richardson made bond in 1857 for John Brandon to have guardianship of Sarah J. Brandon,minor heir of Rebecca Brandon. Mary Ann Brandon married John C. Franklin and who was given letters of administration. Sarah Jane Brandon married William B. Bell. I think John C. Franklin and Mary Ann may have married in Green Co. Al. I believe Jane Brandon Bell is listed in the Noxubee Co.Cemetery Book. I have additional information to share on the Brandons and allied lines.
