Membership records, past and present, are maintained by the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of each state. A directory of state Grand Lodges is available at: http://www.vista-masons.org/links/usgrand.htm Inquiries should be addressed to the Grand Secretary at the address shown for each state. If you write "Genealogical Information Request" on the lower left corner of the envelope it will speed your request to the correct person. Masonic organizations are proud of their legacy, and your request will receive the best possible attention. However, Grand Lodge offices are usually minimally staffed and your request may take a while. Full name, Lodge Number and location, and date and place of birth will help the search. I know it might have been on this list recently but am not sure. How can I get in touch with a Mason Lodge to obtain records? It was Lodge No. 217 in Goshen Springs and the year I need information on is 1868. Thank you for any help. Sandra
May I suggest InoculateIt, by Computer Associates Internation. Hi gang: Concerning anti-virus protection programs like Norton (the best), don't just do a live update monthly. Do it weekly AND everytime you hear of a new virus going around on the maillists. Once a month for a busy user is not often enough. My Norton is well worth the money I spent on it. It has caught about ten viruses this year. And yes, back up on floppy disk any important file, including on Family Tree Maker, etc. This is a great, active list. Janice B. Annette: Relax, no one sent you a virus via a Rootsweb list, and you did not send anyone on the list a virus; however, it may have gone to all on your e-mail directory. One technique to prevent sending to all is to get rid of Microsoft Outlook, as it is a target of lots of virus writers, and use something not so common, but good, such as Eudora. It has a free version. the best protection is a good virus software, there are many; (1) set the software to scan automatically all incoming documents, (2) and update it monthly, and (3) back up your files (keep backup in different building). don't let the creepy virus writers get you down! j John F. Posted on: Noxubee County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Noxubee/10406 Surname: Adams, Garner, Thomas, Featherston, Featherstone ------------------------- Hi Barbara. I just returned from the Adams Family Reunion in Macon and homecoming at the Salem Methodist Church. I was also in Macon to do some genealogy research on the Adams, Garner and Thomas families. I remember seeing the Featherston(e) family living adjacent to my Abram/Abraham Adams family in Salem in one of the early censuses but can't remember whether it was 1850 or 1860. Certainly they have been in Noxubee since its early days. I was even staying with a cousin who lives on Featherston Court. Good luck with your search. Another Barbara (Barbara McDaniel Ray, Atlanta, GA)
I feel terrible. Apparently I picked up that virus "Badtrans" late yesterday, and it started sending out to the unread emails, spreading it to whomever opened the attachment. It may have hit some of our people. Another sent me the URL www.grisoft.com where I downloaded a free virus protection which recognizes this virus, and was able to "clean" my computer. Perhaps we should alert all those on the mail lists? Apparently this thing, the virus, gets thru some of the walls of protection to the mail lists.

Does anyone on the list know of a Carlotta Featherstone? My brother, Harold Holder, was engaged to her, but he was killed near Macon in 1948, the year before I was born. I've always been curious about her and wondered what happened to her after his death. Charlotte Holder Herridge E.
