Folks, Ancestry.com has taken over the "old" GenConnect Boards that we have enjoyed the last couple of years. The big change is not one that "we" like. You will be asked to sign up with a users name and password to view the boards. This part is free, but bothersome? Past posts have "been claimed" as copyrighted by Ancestry.com. That is frustrating in itself. There is some hope that changes will be made that will credit where credit is due. Because "we" seem to have lost control of our own posts, which at one time we manually posted (as webperson) but gave up to go automated, we are going to turn back the clock, so to speak, and go back to posting manually on our WebPages the queries and information you wish to have posted. Bear with me while I create that change. While we will post these manually to the pages, that does NOT mean you can't also use the "new" way to post. In fact, it is your choice. I feel it is not your intent for Ancestry.com to copyright what YOU write. It will be a day or so before I get that page fixed. In the meantime: If you want post something on the query board (Like just to stave off losing your queries with the new system) please write whatever and send it to me at earphoto@gonetgo.com Sometime in the near future, I will set up a new mailing address for the queries, but for now, just use mine. God Bless, ear

Annette, Checking www.familysearch.com, the Library catalog, under Noxubee County, Court Records, there is nothing listed as Orphans Court, but there are three different types of Probate Court records listed, and I think you might find guardianship information there. In addition to the probate dockets, minutes and records, there are Chancery Court records and minutes and Miscellaneous records from the Mississippi State Archive. Marleen
Hey, anyone out there that can answer this question? Is there a "special" book for the Orphans court, and, was it microfilmed? ear ----- Original Message ----- From: METOIL@aol.com To: earphoto@gonetgo.com Cc: METOIL@aol.com Sent: Thursday, June 14, 2001 9:00 PM Subject: Question on Orphans Court - Noxubee County Annette, I have a question and I hope you will be able to point me in the right direction. I was researching in Book A of the Probate Records for Noxubee for my ancestor Elisha FORD, and in several places the records refer to Orphans Court. Do you know if the records for the Orphans Court have been microfilmed. I have checked the Family History Library Catalog and do not seem to find any such Court Records. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thank you Mary Ellen Toillion metoil@aol.com

Posted on: Noxubee County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Noxubee/10432 Surname: PEARRE, PERRY ------------------------- Hello All, I am looking for a Pearre/Perry ancester who may have resided in Noxubee county around the 1830-1850. My gggrandfather, Alexander William Pearre, was born in Mississippi around 1835 based on an 1860 Louisiana census. His parents were listed as being born in Georgia, but it did not list their names. I am am trying to find out who they might be by checking all Pearres/Perrys who may have resided in MS during the 1830-1850 time frame. I found a MS land record that listed a James Pearre as purchasing 80 acres in 1841. I also noticed that the 1840 Noxubee census listed a James Perry. Could this be the same James Pearre/Perry? I don't know and even if it was, it wouldn't tell me if James was the father of Alexander Pearre. Does anyone know anything about a family of Pearres/Perrys who lived in MS around 1835+ that had a son named Alexander William Pearre and another named James D. Pearre? Thanks in advance, D.E. Jackson

Posted on: Noxubee County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Noxubee/10431 Surname: Featherston and Featherstone ------------------------- My ggrandfather was the son of James Featherstone and Barbara Rhyne. William was his name, he was born 12/25/1865 in Gaston County, North Carolina. He apparently was the youngest son of James. His parents at one time lived in the Noxubee area where some of his sisters and brothers may have settled along with his uncles and aunts. William has always been reported as dying in the Civil War which has been erroneous information. Most of his children settled in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York. I am searching for any of his family in Mississippi. Did James and Barbara relocate back to Mississippi where they died? Our family has always been a mystery and others who are linked to this name would like to know about their heritage.

First, Robby......please send the correct link for the talking pages??? Then.....I promised, and finally got my work up on the net.....the Index to Probate Book A now appears off my pages. There is a link from both my personal pages and the Noxubee county pages. This index is not complete, I only copied what I thought I needed at the time? Not unusal, however, I now see the need to go back and get what I missed. This was a project I started while I was staying with my mother during her last illness, late 1998. I "must" have the rest of that thing around here somewhere, but, alas....it is lost in my filing system, be what it may. I decided to post what I have transcribed, not waiting to finish. I do hope some of you find something helpful in it. I learned something new while editing it for the web....I am sure you might find something you will need. I do NOT have the pages listed..it took too much space, but all the entries appear in the Probate Book A. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~earphoto/pbAndx.html Good luck, God Bless, ear
