Also there is a Dew family in Attala Co. I would think that the Glass family that you are looking for is related to your family. I believe they were there in the 1850 era.
Posted on: Noxubee County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Noxubee/336 Surname: Glass, Dew, Pratt ------------------------- Rosemary Bradford Grant, retired teacher/professor, Monett, MO. I'm trying to locate my ancestors in Noxubee County somewhere around 1843. They do not show up on the 1840 census, but they do on the 1850. My ggfather was John Hinah Dew, and he married Mary Jane Glass. I think the Dews moved from Bibb County, Alabama before the Glasses, but I'm not sure. Mary Jane's father was Ebenezer Robertson Glass, and he was born in Bibb County. He married Rebecca Beavers Pratt. I look forward to trying to locate any of these families and will appreciate any help. Rosemary
The surnames I'm researching in Noxubee and Kemper Counties are Floore and Weaver. Floore is also seen spelled Flora, Fleur, etc. In particular I'm looking for info on the ancestors of Mary Floore born 1831 and her husband, Frank Weaver born about 1829. Mary was the daughter of Ephraim Floore but I don't know her mother's name. Does anyone know if Mark Taylor still lives in the area? I had corresponded with him about these families and suddenly stopped hearing from him. Thanks for any help, Debbie thanks, Debbie
My grandmother, Carrie May Friday was married to George Baldwin Dismukes, born in 1860 in Nashville, TN and died around 1900 in Noxubee County. They had at least two sons, Elliot and Edwin ("Tom"). I'm hoping someone has information on any other children they might have had, as well as the names of Mr. Dismukes' parents. May Friday married my grandfather, John Albert Eichelberger, after Mr. Dismukes died.
