    2. I found a will for Wiley Abney in Neshoba County, it was listed in a book in the Union Ms Library; Wiley bought some of his land from Wesley Boler. I have a copy of that, it was sent to me by Carol Schrader quite some time ago. Carolyn

    2. Hello, Newton County was organized in 1836 from Neshoba County. However, Neshoba County was not organized until 1833. You may need to check with southwest Mississippi for records earlier than that. Many in Neshoba and Newton Counties came from southwest Mississippi. You can find the early Newton County wills indexed at www.nchgs.org Bess

    3. I'm wondering if anyone has a will and probate index and knows if there was a will/probate for Wesley Boler (d. 1821) and what book and page number it is on, so I can order a copy. Thanks. Lee Anne

    3. It seems to me that a couple of years ago we visited a burial site on the sideof the road in Newton MS which was donated by the Doolittle family to the fallen unknown soldiers. Not sure why/if if is anything relative to your searches but thot. i'd pass this along. There were a few family and others w/names but most were for persons but w/no names. I may have some images taken esp. of sign for the cemestery but on floppy diskette Sony camera and maybe some w/print film. I'll have to dig out the old boxes and sift thru if it's something you think you'd want/need. good luck, teg -----Original Message----- From: Cjdixie830@aol.com [mailto:Cjdixie830@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 11:05 AM To: MSNEWTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MSNEWTON] John C McElroy - Newtons Hornets The only date on it is nd onbirth, death on 1912, he is buried in the Newton Cemetery, Newton Ms Newton County I am in the process of sending the Confederate Soldiers in Newton County to a man in Leland Ms who hopes to put all of this on a web site. 2. Debra, I did find it in the Connehatta in the Cemetery Book, it does give the Co and Regt, birth and death date. That is what I need on any Confederates if anyone has any more. I had three buried in Beulah, my ancestors, that do not have a CSA marker. I suspect this is true of some of the other people. I just happened to know the information on these I had done research of . if you can think of any, like that, let me know, Carolyn

    1. Re: [MSNEWTON] Re:Thames cemetery at Little Rock, Ms
    2. I am sorry I do not have any information on any Thames. The only thing I remember about the slaves being in that area, was that some were quite old and taken care of and did attend Beulah Baptist Church. At one time there was a Shady Grove Church, that was a black church and the children attended school there. I do not think it no longer stands and I do not know if there was a cemetery there or not. My suggestion might be to try the Decatur Courthouse, otherwise I am sorry I cannot help you. Carolyn

    3. Hello, I have been reading with interest about DNJ Greenlee buried at Hickory. Since I live near the cemetery, I went to the location described by Dortha McElroy Greenlee in the email below and found the grave site. The marker reads: DJN Greenlee, Co K,13 Ms Inf, CSA. 2. The Connehatta Confederate is, according to the directions in the Newton County Book,on State hiway492 0.8 west of the State Hiway 15, which is down a dim country road and was fenced and inaccesible. I find that only makes me want to see it even more, but if the authors of the book did not find it, and they lived on Hiway 15, I doubt if anyone could see inside the fence. Thank you for the name, I wll add it to the names I have. If you find any more let me know, I will wait a week or so before I send him the names I have. Carolyn
