    2. Hello to the McCAIN, SPRADLEY, and NEWTON County, MS lists, Re: McCAIN families in SC to Newton County, MS from 1790 to 1800s I am looking for any information on a McCAIN family/families that were in Newton County, Mississippi in the 1800s. I don't know with certainty that her McCAIN family migrated from South Carolina to Newton County, Mississippi but some of them may have. And it is possible that her McCAIN family was also in Kershaw County, Camden District as we believe her husband's SPRADLEY family was. Specifically looking for a Mary McCAIN...how hard can that be? :<) Have no specifics for her other than she was born in 1790 in South Carolina and married William Elias SPRADLEY, Sr. in Abt. 1810. No information on his parents either other than he is probably descended from the SPRADLEY family group in Kershaw County, Camden District, South Carolina somehow connected with Bryant SPRADLEY but still just speculating. Children of Mary McCAIN and William Elias SPRADLEY were: (1.) James "Jim" SPRADLEY, b: 1810 in South Carolina, md: Maranda ?, (children: Patrick, Jesse, Ransom, Harris, Josephine, Georgia/Georgianna, Margaret, & Jane) (2.) Caroline SPRADLEY, b: 1815 in SC or Newton Co., MS, md: Wm. McDANIEL, Sr., ( children: Thomas, Florence, Sarah, Henry, Horace, & Wm. McDANIEL, Jr.) (3.) Nancy SPRADLEY, b: 1816 in SC or Newton Co., MS, d: 1860-1880 in Jasper Co., MS, md: Hiram McCARTY, (children: Martha Ann Caroline, James Albert, Mary E. "Queen/Nancy," Maranda Jane, (Twin,) Sarah Jane. (Twin,) Eliza Ann, Wm. H. "Bill," Margaret/W.W. "Margaret," Andrew/A.L., Andrew Jackson, A. T. "Tommy," Daniel, F. B.) (4.) William Elias SPRADLEY, Jr., b: Abt. 1820 prob. in Newton Co., MS, md: Sarah Eliza "Eliza" CRAVEN/McCRAVEN, (who also md: Wiley LANDRUM,) (Children: Alena, Robert, Richmond, Irene/Alena?, Elias Newton, Y. Clarence, and there were 4 children, (have no names,) for Sarah & Wiley LANDRUM) (5.) (Unnamed Daughter) SPRADLEY (6.) (Unnamed Daughter) SPRADLEY (7.) Susan SPRADLEY, b: Bet. 1820 - 1825 in SC or Newton Co.,MS, md: Bryant McCARTY, (brother of Hiram McCARTY who married Nancy SPRADLEY, (Susan SPRADLEY's sister,) (Children of Bryan and Susan: Florinda, Melissa, and Alonzo) (8.) Maria SPRADLEY, b: Abt. 1834 prob. in Newton Co., MS Have been away from my research for about a year tending to important family matters and have returned and trying to see if any progress has been made by anyone regarding this Mary McCAIN and husband, William Elias SPRADLEY, Sr.. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett

    3. Did I ever get back in touch w/you to see if we have any connections? Do you think the "bett" could be our Betty (Bassette) Pace who married in to the Ammons family? Our Betty 's headstone is in Newton Co., I think it was at the Prospect Baptist Church; it'd been listed as in Conehatta but I don't think that's where I'd actually taken the photo. It's been a few years ago and I don't recall. I've been going over 'saved' emails to see if I'd connected base since I was in/out all summer long.
