    3. Thank you. I'll try that. There were some Rishers in Scott Co., too. Wouldn't it be great if these people's names were spelled the same way everytime. Surely would make life easier. 2. Frann, I found the family of one Curmit Hudson, age 7, living in Scott Co MS on the 1820 census. The same family was in Madison Co LA on the 1930 census, where he is age 17, spelled Kermit. Perhaps this will give you a new location to look for family, is this is the correct Kermit. Fran Bolton

    2. Frann, My main concern with Newton Co is James J Monroe 1812 NC-1867 MS, one of the early settlers. Co-lateral lines there are Kelly, Gilmore, Mann, Ware. James J had ? connection to Archibald Monroe. After the Civil War, James J died, 3 of his sons moved to Yalobusha Co, and the other 10 moved to TX, where I live. I found, by way of the message boards, very helpful lady there in Decatur, a member of the NCHGS, Jo Blackburn, who went out of her way to look for info there. I only wish every long distance researcher could find one like her. She sent me a copy of the 150 yr anniversary issue of the Newton Record Newspaper, 1836-1986, and if you like, I could look for your names to be mentioned there. Did they hold any official position, such as postmaster, that would give me a clue as to what section to look? Fran

    3. Frann Love your "witness protection plan." This searching for theses folks is fun & frustrating. Slowly getting names in my great aunt's family. Would like to find some living in this line to compare notes. Nancy Bell Leigh & Kermit C. Hudson--2 children are Wayne & Carol. Let me know if you hear anything about family of these two. Frann

    2. Frann, I found a family tree on Rootsweb Worldconnect, that lists a Kermit Hudson, b ?, son of William Thomas Hudson, b 1892 Marion Co MS, d 1971 Newton Co MS. I read your posts and understand how frustrating it can be to find our people. (Ever considered she might be under the Witness Protection Program, as I suspect my James J Monroe of Newton Co was?) We sometimes have to go way out on a limb to connect, so perhaps this suggestion will be a new twig. Fran Bolton

He was living alone but born in MS. The age is a little different, but could be the same one. 1860 census, Meadville, Franklin, MS, page 271 the following: J. M. Ashley was living with T. H. Whittington in 1880 and there was a T. J. Reynolds, wife Viola, living next door. The Nancy A. you listed on the 1870 census may be the Ashley???? The age is right, but the sex and name were different. I could not find a Nancy in 1860 or 1880. Nicey James was living in Amite in 1860, page 90, living alone. She married P. R. 3. I'll try to put together all the information that I have on this topic in discussion. Some of it is mine, some from Newton Co., MS & some from Amite Co., MS and Bonnie in this e-mail below. Thanks to those who replied. This is a Reynolds web site. Lists Clarke Co., MS but has my ancestors Mary Meredith & Thomas Reynolds who were in Amite Co., MS. I have tried to contact the three people listed on this site but no luck. Does anyone know anything about this site? http://members.tripod.com/~rriggs/reynolds.html This is from Bonnie: Fran, Check Newton County, MS also "on Wednesday 3 Sep 1845 at a meeting of the Masons of Newton Co.
