    3. I am looking for the ancestors of Joseph or maybe Joe Davidson. Born 1807 in Georgia. The place where he was born became Twiggs County, GA in 1809. He married Nancy Howell b. 811 Georgia. Their children are twins Caroline and Adaline b 1847, James b. 1849, John Franklin b.?, Emily b. 1845, Zachariah b. 1845 The family moved from Twiggs County, GA to Newton County Area in the mid 1850s. So far I have not been able to find anything about Joseph/Joe Davidson's ancestors or anyone else that knows. I suspect his ancestorscame from North Carolina as many Davidsons did. 1. Re: [MSNEWTON] Risher/Leigh/Lay
    2. Frann, I also noticed in the Newton Co. Cemetery book there is a Ruby L. Leigh b. 9-14-1903 d. 1-29-1970 and was married to Davis Edward "Tee" Reeves on one side of Alice Risher and Wiley M. Leigh. I wonder could this could be a daughter as well. On the other side of Alice and Wiley are Nancy Leigh and Kermit C. Hudson. On the other side of Nancy Leigh and Kermit Hudson is Hortense L. b. 11-17-1906- living? and Henry B. Walker (b. 10-24-1899 d. 9-24-1977) She could possibly be Hortense Leigh. Alice Risher, sister of my grandfather Lum, b January 26,1887 & d September 1, 1956. Buried Liberty BC Cem, Newton Co., MS. m. Wiley Macalister Leigh Mack b April 17, 1875 & d March 18, 1950 Alice & Mack had one daughter--Nancy Bell Leigh b June 18, 1912 & d July 21, 1995 Nancy m. Kermit C. Hudson Kermit born January 19, 1917 & d Jan 14, 1990

    3. Really appreciate all the help you give. I know Nancy is the daughter. Someone responded last fall & said they had one daughter--Nannie Bell. This person said she married K. Hutson so this would be Kermit Hudson. The Leigh bunch is most confusing. Alice married Wiley M. Leigh. On the census he is Lay. Most of them use Lay but this person told me that Mack's bunch spelled their name Leigh as the tombstone. I don't know who the others are. Another question: Is Poplar Springs in Newton Co., MS? Another sister, Mary Elizabeth Risher, married Robert Holman Williams. Billie M. Carmichael told me they had 3 children--J. W., John, & Louise. Surely wish Billie would be interested in this. I'm sure she knows a lot. She is the one who told me who Alice & Mary Elizabeth married & that Alice had a twin. I have written Billie several times but she only responded the 1st time. I invited her to our Risher reunion in Enterprise but she didn't come. 3. I do not know much about these family members. I just learned last year that two of my grandfather's sisters married & moved to Newton Co. I assume they married in Jasper Co., MS. Alice Risher m. Wiley McCalister Leigh/Lay after 1900. Mary Elizabeth Risher m. Robert H. Williams. Really would appreciate any info. They are buried in Newton Co. so I assume they lived there all their lives. Frann
