> Does anyone have driving directions from Brandon, Ms. and where to find > location/names of persons interred in cemetery's: I would use http://www.mapquest.com; it's a great source for finding maps and directions. How good a road is Highway 25 out of Jackson? You could take that to about Drysdale (south of Carthage), pick up Highway 16 east for Philadelphia and go to Black Jack Cemetery first. When I was in Philadelphia a couple of years ago, I was taken to someplace downtown -- city hall? -- and I got a wonderful map of Philadelphia, and on the reverse was Neshoba County. It was invaluable for getting around the county. > High Hill Cemetery--Neshoba County, Ms. Located in Section 18, Township 9, Range 10. It is just into Neshoba County from the Leake County border, in southwestern Neshoba County; the nearest Neshoba County town appears to be Kitchener. The cemetery is on Road 206 (on the Leake County side, it looks like it's called Zion Road). Mapquest actually shows a location on the map called High Hill; if you type in High Hill as the city and MS as the state, then zoom in, it will take you right to the area. The Neshoba Cemetery book shows the cemetery on the south side of Road 206, while the Mississippi Highway Map for Neshoba County shows the church on the north side. At any rate, it's only a little west of Road 101. > Black Jack Cemetery--Philadelphia, Ms. Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery is in Section 24, Township 11, Range 10, on the Pearl River Indian Reservation. Same as for High Hill, type in Pearl River as the city and MS as the state, and then zoom in to the area. From Highway 16 west out of Philadelphia, you go north on BIA 0022, not too far a distance it appears from Mapquest, and the cemetery should be on the right (east) side of BIA 0022. (Note: BIA 0022 is a horseshoe-shaped road on the north side of Highway 16; the directions I gave here are from the eastern side of the horseshoe, nearest to Philadelphia.) Susan Marston Edina, MN
Last time I was there, the road between Jackson and Philadelphia, 25, was great. In fact, Mississippi has always seemed to have slightly better roads than other places! The directions below are good. And, if you have any trouble at all, the folks at the Library are great to help!
