I am still searching for a Watkins family who left TN in 1834 bringing with them a 2 year old son William I Watkins, who was born in Fayette Co.,TN. >From Civil war pensions files, his widow stated the family also contained these siblings: Frank, Jesse, and at least one daughter. Frank died in the Civil War, probably some where in Alabama. The Frank and William Watkins were both carpenters, as stated in enlistment papers. I have been trying to find some source, giving me a clue as to the name of William I Watkins father, or information on the family of his brother Jesse, hoping this would give additional clues. The other information I have is from a late 1800's census which William I states his father was born in North Carolina. There unfortunately so many Watkins in NC at the probable time. I have been so fortunate in discovering all of the major lines of my husband's ancestors, but have been stopped at this TN>MS family of Watkins. I just cannot discover William I Watkins' father's name. Any clues would be most gratefully appreciated. God Bless, Beverly Anne Thatcher Smith
