Julie, My Neshoba Stuarts have been sometime spelled Stewart. The Stewart/Stuart DNA project family I matched back in VA mostly use the Stewart spelling. My William Davis Stuart states he was born in AL (1823) but I have not been able to find him anywhere in the state. He first appeared on the 1850 Winston Co., MS census as William "G" (the way it was transcribed) Stewart. It shows him, his wife, & 6 month old daughter all born in AL. By this I have assumed that he & Hannah Jones were married in AL, but have not found any records. Hannah's parents and siblings were in Neshoba Co in 1845. Her Uncle David Stainton's son, Lafayette Stainton was editor of the Neshoba Democrat in the early 1880's. The Staintons were in Monroe Co., AL before coming to Neshoba County and there are some Stuarts there also but I've never made a connection. The Deweese surname is well known in Neshoba Co. & I have a William M. Stuart that married Texanna Marshall back in 1879 in Neshoba Co.
