For those of you who have had trouble finding some of the Neshoba County cemeteries, my father and I drove a number of them last week. I have uploaded exact directions on my Web Page: http://www.carolshouse.com to the following cemeteries: Neshoba Dixon Primitive Baptist Pine Grove Church of God Old Carolina Presbyterian Beech Springs Mt. Zion Methodist Good Hope Baptist Mt. Carmel Wheatfield Congregational Methodist High Hill I also took over 500 new tombstone pictures but it will take a little longer to get them all uploaded to the Web Page. Carol Shrader
That was a lot of work! Thanks for sharing. I am so glad to get something from the list. If it seemed I just disappeared for awhile you are correct. Had a big problem with computer. Lost most of the mail. Fortunately I had backed up a lot of things. Now am back and trying to catch up on all the queries going around that I was involved in.... So, I still have the books and am willing to look things up. Hope things have been going well with sharing information. Julie Russell (Cannon, Tullos, Fox, Boone....) My thanks to Carol for all the help she has provided to the list. I sure could have used some help with directions last summer. I was searching for the High Hill Cemetery. I had even been there before. I flagged down a local farmer at the intersection of 2 roads which were unmarked and low and behold he was going right past the High Hill Cemetery. After making pictures of the Green's who have markers there my parents and I went across the road to the church and parsonage to talk with the pastor. This is where we found out that the church is in one county and the cemetery across the road is in another. The pastor showed us a marker in the county line is. This is the USGS site http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form where you can lookup locations. This site shows what the pastor told us about them being in different counties. Below is the information about the church & cemetery. ======================================= Feature Type: church State: Mississippi County: Neshoba Variant Name(s) High Hill Baptist Church USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Sebastopol 323729N 0891902W ========================================== Feature Name: High Hill Cemetery Feature Type: cemetery State: Mississippi County: Leake USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Sebastopol 323726N 0891905W ========================================== -----Original Message----- From: Carol Shrader [mailto:wi4k@cox.net] Sent: Monday, March 08, 2004 9:38 PM To: MSNESHOB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MSNESHOB] Cemetery Directions For those of you who have had trouble finding some of the Neshoba County cemeteries, my father and I drove a number of them last week.
