> Do you know how to get to his web page to read the census? Janice Craft You have to go to the Neshoba County GenWeb site, then click on the What's New page. Here's a shortcut to that page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~msneshob/new.htm Then click on the link for Alan Ray's records. Thank, Alan, for your efforts! I have the 1870 microfilm, but hadn't had the chance to check 1850 or 1860 yet! Hi Group! Alan Ray now has the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Neshoba Co., MS Federal Census with soundex on his web page. Find the link on What's New or at the Census Index. Thanks for all of your hard, time-consuming work, Alan! Marsha
Thanks to everyone who replied to the request for information on the Killen Cemetery. You guys are the greatest. I feel like I have already been there..... Paul Cain
Your best bet would probably be to go to the Philadelphia Public Library and contact Theresa Rideout. She did the Survey of the Killeen Cemetery. I know the Cem is located in Section 28 Township 9 Range 12, but I do not know the roads to take. I have the Neshoba County Cem Book with all the Graves listed. IF you are not able to go and need the dates I will be glad to send them to you Bobbie H. Hi everybody, I am new to this list. In researching some information on my GGG Grandfather, John Savell, looks like I have found more than what I was looking for. Possibly his parents, and maybe even grand parents. I will be going to the Killen Cemetery in Neshoba County in August. Looks like it is located on the south end of the county. Can someone give me directions from the nearest town? Thanks in advance. Paul Cain Livingston, Tx
Our ancestor AARON LEE, 1781-1857 and his wife MARY UNKNOWN LEE, 1783-1857, spent their remaining years in Neshoba County after moving from Wilcox County, Alabama. We have never been certain of her maiden name. Some think the name is SUGGS and some SILLS. It is said that a Bible belonging to ISAAC & DELILAH INGRAM descended as the property of MS BETTY MCCOOL, apparently a resident of Neshoba some years back. Ms McCool's current address is unknown. If anyone knows this lady and would be willing to give me her address, I would be most appreciative. Or, in the interest of safety, perhaps someone who knows Ms McCool would be willing to ask her to write to me, either by postal mail or by E-Mail. Gratefully Harold C. Wylie G. & Jane TAYLOR, along with Nathan & Eliza WALTON were charter members of New Hope Baptist Church, organized in 1877 in the Neshoba Community. That church later changed its name to Neshoba Baptist Church. Jane TAYLOR is purported to be a WALTON. Was she a child of Nathan & Eliza WALTON? Does anyone know where Nathan WALTON resided prior to the 1870 Neshoba Co, MS census? Wylie G. & Jane TAYLOR had the following issue: Penelope, James G, Della, B???, Alice V. married Richard (or Robert) William RICHMOND, William W., Elizabeth, & Cora B married Emmett PARKER. Does anyone recognize this family?
Hi to all "My" Counties, The USGenWeb Census project has a listing of all of the census records they currently have online. If you need census records for your research, you might find the information you are looking for there. Check it out at: http://www.us-census.org/inventory/inventory.htm Marsha Bryant Coordinator for: Kemper & Neshoba Counties, MS Bibb County, AL Warrick County, IN (Co-coordinator with Gilbert Schmitt) PS. The only one of my counties that has any information on it is Kemper, MS. the 1850 slave schedules are listed.
Hi groups, This is a note to all of my county sites. You will begin to see a "to break out of frames click here" note on all of my pages. When you click the "here" you will be taken to my original sites, not the framed up view the pay-for-view companies place on the pages. I want people to know that they should not be charged for viewing information on any of my pages and if they are being charged, they are being ripped off! I wanted to let ya'll know what was going on when you saw those notes on all of the pages. Thanks to all of you for your support on all the webs! Marsha Co-Coordinator: Warrick, IN Coordinator: Bibb, AL; Kemper, MS; Neshoba, MS
Hi Group, Mary Miller sent in some Cemetery records for the Hobby surname. If you have cemetery records to add to Neshoba, please send them in! Thanks to Mary! Marsha
I received this on my Hill list at rootsweb thought I would pass it on, I have no personal knowledge of these people. HILL-L@rootsweb.com I took a minute out of our volunteer typing time to check this site out. http://www.familydiscovery.com/ It is a fraudulent site because a membership gives you links to our free sites. You do not have to pay to get to any site in USGenWeb Right here, there is no charge to get to all the counties in USGenWeb. We are all hardworking volunteers to have genealogy information free for researchers. I have found links to our Macoupin civil war rosters, censuses, which we spent many hours of volunteer time now to have unknowing researchers pay a membership to click on a link to view our work. Macoupin County ILGenWeb volunteers have put over 1400 pages of free information and continuing to work to get more pages up. If any person finds our complete work in their membership, please notify me. Please pass this information onto any list. Let's try to keep these ripoffs from making their pile of money from our volunteer work. Please pass this onto any list you might be on. Hopefully, this site will be removed soon if not sooner. Thanks for listening. Gloria Steve Hill Natchez, Ms. flacracker@peoplepc.com
I am searching for information on this family, which was enumerated on the 1850 Neshoba Co, MS Census, but may have actually been living in Kemper Co: The census taker appeared to stray over the line, at least for one area family. The area was in the approximate House area of Neshoba County / Moscow area of Kemper County. I am searching for my wife's great grandfather, many years ago her father told her his grandfather came to Jefferson Co. from Neshoba Co. His name was William Monroe Bryant his wife was Harriet Babin. They were married in Jones County in 1868. Mr. Bryant was born in Ala. and Harriet was born in Miss. They had three children James Monroe, Travis Monroe (Press) and John William. By 1899 they were in Jefferson County so if they lived in Neshoba County it would had to of been between 1870 and 1899. Any help that could be given would be appreciated greatly as we have been looking for quite sometime. God Bless. Steve Hill Natchez, Ms. flacracker@peoplepc.com
In 1978 I published a family history on my Barnett and Allied Lines families. My ancestor (great-grandparents) came from Tallapoosa County, Alabama about 1885 and settled in the Watkinsville area then moved over to Madden. I found a lot of old pictures in my grandparents' home in Laurel Hill and wanted to include them in the history but there was one I could not identify - and none of my father's brothers could tell me who they were. Recently I found out they were Mr. and Mrs. Yates, parents of Leila Yates who married Rene Sanders. Does anyone know their names? Any help in identifying this couple will be more than appreciated! Hi group, This is a great link for primary document research: http://www2.pitnet.net/primarysources/ You have to scroll down to find the area you are interested in but there is a "wealth' of material here. For those researching African American history there are some sites also. Marsha
