Please answer to Martha directly, not to me. Thanks, Marsha Here are her messages: Marsha, I thought I was sending this message to the Neshoba mailing list. I recently found out that Daniel Parker and wife were early settlers in Neshoba County, MS. in mid 1800s. Daniel Parker was the brother of Philemon Parker and wife who settled in Calhoun (then Yalobusha) County. I don't have an address for any of the Neshoba County Parkers, but thought maybe some of them might be interested in meeting with their "cousins" in Calhoun County on June 14th. That might be helpful. I'm not sure how you'd like me to help. There will be a Cobb/Parker Family Reunion held on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on June 14, 2003 in the VFW Lodge at Bruce, MS in Calhoun County. All friends and relatives of pioneers Gray Cobb and wife, Winney Wooten, and Philemon Parker and wife, Eliza Montgomery, are invited. Philemon Parker was the son of Daniel E. Parker of Upson Co., GA. We have just discovered that Philemon Parker's brother, Daniel Parker, Jr. settled in Neshoba Co., MS. We would like to inform them of the reunion. Can you help? Martha in Florida

I have received (from Hazle Boss Neet, a researcher in Pontotoc, MS) a copy of the marriage record/license for my gg grandfather, Ransom H. Brown and Jane Oliver dated March 15/16, 1858 in Pontotoc Co., MS. Jane was Ransom's second wife, and not my gg grandmother. Also on the same legal size length paper, was the marriage record/license for a Charles Ewing and Elizabeth McClennan (sp?) dated March 15, 1858. Anyone interested or descending from these two people? Also, Hazle Boss Neet gave me a list of burial sites for various Lamar family members (my gg grandmother - Mariah (Lamar) Brown - Ransom's first wife, was not on the list). If anyone would like to receive the list, I can type it out for them. Just wanted you all to know, that even though it has taken me a few years, little by little I'm putting the pieces together on my Brown/Lamar/Johnson ancestors. Oh, and also (John Byrd, take notice), guess who the minister was for Ransom Brown and Jane Oliver's wedding - you guessed it, G. C. Johnson, M. G. I'm going to assume that this was George Cunningham Johnson, Minister of God, who was a brother to my Randolph Johnson. Randolph's son, Joseph Abner or Joab Johnson, is the one who married Ransom's oldest daughter, Mary Undine Brown, also in 1858. For Russell researchers, there was a John M. Russell who signed the marriage license at the bottom and it says: "Know all Men That We, R. H. Brown and J. M. Russell are held and firmly bound to the State of Mississippi, Governor of the State of Mississippi, and his successors, in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, for payment of which we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally. Signed, sealed and dated this 15 day of March A. D., 1858. BUT THIS BOND IS ON A CONDITION that a MARRIAGE being shortly intended to be solemnized between R. H. Brown and Jane Oliver. NOW, if there be no lawful cause to obstruct said MARRIAGE, for which a license has issued, then this obligation is to be void, else to remain in full force. R. H. Brown John M. Russell" The wedding record was not only signed by G. C. Johnson, M. G., but also by a D. J. Pitts, Clerk, if anybody is looking for him.
Hi Group, Just to let you know, a couple of small cemetery lists with pictures of the tombstones have been posted. Susan Marston sent in McCullough Cemetery. Musgrove Cemetery was sent in by Louise Merritt. Lee Cemetery names were sent in by Harold Fisher. More names were sent in for several cemeteries from several contributors. Check those out! Susan also sent in some new names and some corrected names for the marriage records - White. Check out the "Lookup" section. More volunteers have been added. (It's under "Resources") Also, I have a tombstone picture project going on my Bibb County, AL GenWeb site (address below if you're interested). Volunteers are taking digital pictures of the tombstones and emailing them in to me. I'm posting those pictures on the web. If you are interested in doing this, below is how I prefer to receive information: *In the subject line, please write Neshoba - then the cemetery name (I have 5 genealogy websites, so I don't want to put the information the wrong place!) *Please write the information that is on the tombstone in the body of the email. I've found that many times I can't read the tombstone clearly, so after I've posted the information, I have to go back and correct the name or dates. Use this form for the tombstone info: Last, first, middle names, dates (I prefer the usual way ... May 2, 1890-I've tried to be consistant in my dates throughout the web; but sometimes there are just too many to change!), then any additional info (son of, dau of, wife of, etc.) You may put the tombstone "saying" if you'd like. Many times people leave it off because it is usually of no use to research. For naming the photos: *all lower case letters *lastnamefirstnamemiddleinitial (Last, first, middle initial --- bryantmarshah.jpg) *If two or more people share a tombstone, give last name and initials of both.... bryantmhtb.jpg (Bryant, M. H. & T. B.) If you already have them named differently, that's okay. I'll just rename them when I get them. The server does not recognize spaces between names and gives me an error message. I also need to be able to find them to link them, that's why I prefer last names first. If you already have pictures of your ancestors tombstones in Neshoba cemeteries, you are welcome to send those to me to post online. I hope all of the problems with the web have been cleared up! I think that I've fixed everything! Please let me know if you find something wrong. I'll be happy to try to correct it. I'd like to see this web grow. If anyone can think of ideas, please let me know. Happy hunting! Marsha http://us-gen.com/ms/neshoba http://www.rootsweb.com/~albibb
Hi Group, Thanks again for all of the helpful feedback. I hope the problems are all corrected now! If you have any other problems, please let me know. If there is a broken link or you get a page not found, please let me know where the link is. I hope you enjoy the web! Marsha

Need to make a trip up that way and check it. If I'm not mistaken, part of Union is in Neshoba County, and part is in Newton County. McCullough Cemetery is in Neshoba County; I have actually been there. I also have the cemetery book and can do a lookup for you if you like. There are a few Henleys buried there. the Neshoba county Library has a publication that lists all known gravesites at Neshoba county cemetaries...an on-sight inventory was conducted a number of years ago.... I do not have copy of this, but it can be ordered I believe. the library will be closing for renovations in the next couple of months though. --Len
Marsha, the newest link doesn't seem to have a link to the actual site. Maybe I'm missing something.--M. Hi Group, I uploaded a new look for the web, but it doesn't seem to be working well. I've had to make some changes. Would a few volunteers check the newest pages to see if they're better? Hi Group, Susan Shoffner has added names to a couple of Neshoba cemeteries. (Cook's, Sandtown) If you have names and/or pictures of tombstones to add for a Neshoba cemetery, please send them to me. All you need to do is to write the cemetery name and Neshoba in the subject line. (I have 5 county websites, so I definitely need Neshoba in the subject line!) I'll get the names posted to the cemetery. If the cemetery is not listed online, then I'll make a new page, just like I did for Cook's Chapel Cemetery. If the ancestor is already listed in a cemetery, but you have a picture of the tombstone, I'll be happy to add the picture with your email address attached as the person who snapped the picture. If you go to the cemetery to snap a couple of pictures of your ancestor's tombstones, please snap a few pictures of the "oldies" that may be along the way. This way, someone may find a long, lost ancestor! If you have any other information for the web, please send it in! I'd like to see the Neshoba web grow! Thanks, Marsha Bryant CC Neshoba GenWeb http://us-gen.com/ms/neshoba

Hi Group, I've just found this link through another county list. Thought ya'll might want to take a look at it. You may not be able to find anyone since this appears to cover the entire US, but it might be worth visiting just to see if a newspaper clipping of your ancestor is there!
