    3. Hi Group, there's a new website associated with US GenWeb. It is the Family Group Sheet Project. The address for the main page is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ It's new, so there's not a lot of information there yet. It should be a great resource when it gets going. There is information on how to submit your information on your own ancestors. Please don't submit information on living persons, even if it says "Private". I'm not sure of the cutoff date they will be using, but I use 1920 for my webs. I don't post any information on anyone born after 1920 unless they are deceased. Imagine going to the web and finding your name, your spouse's and your children's names, birthdates, birthplaces and your parent's information as well! Any scam artist would be delighted to get such information! Happy hunting! Marsha Kemper & Neshoba, MS Bibb, AL Warrick, IN Pemiscot, MO

    3. Hello All, People new to Mississippi genealogy may not realize how many of that state's counties have in one way or another lost their records. Even if they have looked at the Family History Library catalog, they may not be aware that the dirth of records on microfilm is the result of fire, flood, famine and war, rather than a failure to film the records. So, it is easy to see why a person might be disappointed when they log on to a particular website and find that the information available does not live up to their expectations. However, we should all keep in mind that we should not be critical, until we find out for sure that we really have something to be critical about. Marsha Bryant the webmaster of the USGenWeb Neshoba County, Mississippi website also maintains the Kemper County website, a possibly a couple of others that I do not visit. In the case of Neshoba and Kemper Counties, I know from my own research that the information available on these websites, is pretty close to all that is available in public domaine. What is not on. these websites would be a violation of copyright to publish there. The information on these websites is the result of many hours of transcription by Marsha and an army of other researchers who have generously donated their time to the various projects, and freely shared the information with others. Let's not be too hard on someone who is just learning what we have already learned, that Mississippi research is frustratingly difficult. On the other hand, this is a good opportunity to thank Marsha and her army of transcribers and contributors for making what little information that exists, available to us all. Marleen Van Horne

I'm pleased ya'll are enjoying the web, it is one of my babies at 245 pages (Kemper has almost 700 pages!). I'm sure the person just didn't realize that the sites are not part of the county government offices but are contributor driven. Thanks again & keep contributing!!!! 2. Good Morning, I am new to this list. I am currently researching the family of Alexander Gray who is known to have been in Neshoba County in 1840. I do not know when they left the county to move to Scott County, Mississippi where they are found on the 1850 census. At least one daughter married in Neshoba County and possibly others. I need to know if marriage records for Neshoba for the period of 1840 to about 1846 are available. I checked the USGENWEB site for Neshoba County last night and was very disappointed by the lack of information on that site. If these records are on line, I would appreciate the address. If not, is there a kind soul who would be willing to check the index at the court house for me. I live in Texas and it is not likely that I will be able to go to Mississippi anytime soon. Thank you, Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, TX

    3. Hi Group, The Neshoba Circuit Court Office sent me the index of all of the marriage records that they have. All of that index is online. I checked with them this morning just to make sure that I had received all of the information. Marriage records begin in 1877. Remember, to get copies of the records, you will need to contact the Philadelphia Library. They will run copies off microfilm. The link is on the "To Order Records" page. The court house does not want requests for the copies and told me (in the past) they do not honor such requests. Marsha CC Neshoba GenWeb http://us-gen.com/ms/neshoba

John Lacy Lee's paternal grandparents were Evan Ludbrook Lee (born 16 October 1822 in Alabama, died 1 January 1900 in Neshoba Co., Mississippi) and Nancy McIntyre (born April 1824 in Mississippi, died 31 December 1896, Philadelphia, Neshoba Co., Mississippi). John Lacy Lee's father Daniel Martin Lee may have gone to Indian Territory, now part of Oklahoma, to join Daniel's sisters Arelia Lee (married William Paris Hickman) and Martha Jane Lee (Mattie - married William Lace Allford). A brother, John Malcolm Lee, did join the sisters in the Choctaw Nation. Any leads on John Lacy Lee, his brothers and sisters, or what became of his father Daniel Martin Lee, would be very much appreciated.
