    3. Hi! Good to hear back from you! Regarding Sarah Adelaid GRIFFIN, I'll keep digging to verify her DOB since there are at least 3 or 4 dates "floating around". Her mother was Martha Adeline ADKINS, b. 2 Jul 1842 in Henry co., Georgia; d. 19 Jan 1919 in Philadelphia, Neshoba, MS. Ira Lewis GRIFFIN and Martha Adeline ADKINS were married on 8 Mar 1857 in Sumter co., Alabama. More later, Debi Griffin Campbell

    3. Elizabeth Green(e), wife of James Green(e), appears in the 1860, 1870 but does not in the 1880 census. Her husband has remarried .Is there a record of deaths in Neshoba county for that time and if so, would it say what cemetery she is buried in? Thanks in advance for information about her. Regards, Harold

    1. Re: [MSNESHOB] GRIFFIN families of Neshoba County
    2. Sounds like we may be able to exchange quite a bit of information. Joseph Albert Clark's parents were: Joseph Clark & Abigail Earnest His lineage goes Joseph/John/James/Joseph/William Lots of Joseph's. You may do better looking at Rootsweb.com or Ancestry.com because I was going to forward but it is so long, like 16 pages on my family tree ancestry lineage. I had Sarah Adelaids DOB as 5/26/1856 and d. 9/30/1930 and Joseph's as 11/26/1863 and d. 1953. I did not have any of their children listed. Dou have Sarah's Mother's name? I have very little on the Griffin's at all or the Rhodes as you will see. I would appreciate any info. you would like to share and maybe between us, we can help each other out. Thanks, Gladys Clark

    3. Does anybody on the list know anything about a Bradley GRIFFIN from Neshoba county? He lived in Philadelphia. He was born 15 Dec 1897 and died Oct 1985. I'm trying to find out who his parents were and if he's connected to my Neshoba co. GRIFFINs. Thanks! Debi Griffin Campbell

    3. Yes! Sarah Adelaid (Adlay) GRIFFIN is a cousin! Her father, Ira Lewis "L" GRIFFIN was an older brother to my great-grandfather! In case you don't have it, I do have Adelaid's DOB as 8 May 1860, probably in Neshoba co., Mississippi. I don't have a death date/place. Do you? All I have for Joseph Albert CLARK is thathe was born Nov 1864/1866 in MS; they were married about 1886, probably in Neshoba co.; and he died sometime after 1930. The children I have listed for them are as follows, along with birthdates: William L. CLARK, Sep 1887 Ida L. CLARK, Sep 1888 Adel CLARK, Sep 1889 Jessie CLARK, Oct 1892 Mary CLARK, Feb 1893 James CLARK, 12 Dec 1895 Ozy CLARK, Aug 1898 Do you have any further information on these children or their descendants? That would be most helpful! Who were Joseph Albert CLARK's parents? Do you have an Elberry CLARK in your database? She married my great uncle, Ollie Webster GRIFFIN, son of Harmon Rannels GRIFFIN, who was the son of John Jefferson GRIFFIN, son of Daniel Boone GRIFFIN. Daniel Boone GRIFFIN was the father of Ira Lewis GRIFFIN, Sarah Adelaid GRIFFIN's father. I believe Elberry CLARK was a sister to Leroy R. CLARK. They had a double wedding and married GRIFFIN siblings, Ollie Webster GRIFFIN and Ida Leeona GRIFFIN on 28 Oct 1917 in Laurel, Jones co., Mississippi. I would love to exchange information with you. I have a lot on the GRIFFINS, a little on the CLARKS, and not much on the RHODES. I'm still trying to find Nancy T. RHODES' parents, but so far just theories and nothing concrete. Thanks for replying to my email plea for help! Have a great day! Debi Griffin Campbell

    1. [MSNESHOB] GRIFFIN families of Neshoba County
    2. Debi Griffin Campbell
    3. Hi, Y'all: I've been researching the GRIFFINS of Neshoba county (among other connected families) and have come upon a few stumbling blocks (shock!). ha... My gggrandparents were Daniel Boone GRIFFIN and Nancy T. RHODES. Daniel was born 19 Mar 1802 in Orangeburg co., South Carolina. Nancy was born about 1804 in Georgia. They were married on 26 Feb 1827 in Greene co., Alabama, and lived there a few years before returning to Georgia. About 1854, Daniel, Nancy, and their 8 children were part of a wagon train that moved into the Neshoba county, Mississippi area. The ATKINS were also in that group. Daniel and Nancy's children were James Andrew GRIFFIN (b. abt 1829), William M. "Bill" GRIFFIN (b. 30 Jul 1831), Daniel Rowan GRIFFIN (b. abt 1834), Ira Lewis "L" GRIFFIN (b. 23 Sep 1836), Thomas D. GRIFFIN (b. abt 1841), John Jefferson GRIFFIN (b. 25 Nov 1842 -- my great-grandpa), Avery Cylvanus GRIFFIN (b. abt 1846), and Martha Ann Sophronia GRIFFIN (b. 25 Nov 1848). I've got most of the info I need on John Jefferson GRIFFIN's descendants, but I am anxious to learn more about the children of his siblings, particularly the females. As you know, following the trail of female members of the family can be a little tricky. So, for this email, I think I'll focus on the eldest son, James Andrew GRIFFIN. James married Mary Elizabeth ADKINS on 24 Dec 1851 in Henry co., Georgia. They had the following children: Francis A. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1853 Elizabeth J. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1854 Catherine A. T. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1856 Cordelia A. A. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1858 Thomas D. GRIFFIN, b. Jul 1861 Nancy P. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1862 James J. GRIFFIN, b. abt 1864 Luziah/Liziah GRIFFIN, b. abt 1869. I know that Thomas married Elizabeth H. WEBB about 1881 in Neshoba county. They had at least three children: Ida (b. 1894), Ivan (b. 1896), and Irvin (b. 1898). Does anybody have information on any of the people I have listed above? Who did the females marry? Any help is appreciated, and I'll be happy to share what I have found on the ones not listed above (i.e., children of the other siblings). Thanks so much! Debi Griffin Campbell

The case was indexed in the Chancery Docket Book I on page 5 case #6. I am interested in find what this case was about. 3. Billie Sue, I don't have anything on any of the names you mentioned. The Stewart/Stuart DNA project is like all the other surname projects. It is basically a paternity test with more markers tested. It will only test an unbroken line of male descent. I have heard of a female descent test but I know nothing about it. http://www.angelfire.com/nb/stewartdna/ResultsStewartDNA.htm The above link will take you to the results page of the Stewart test. I don't really know where they were before Texas but I have found that Angelina Stewart was born 1824 in Ind. And my great grandfather Wm. James was also born in Ind. So I kinda thought (nothing to go on) that maybe the families knew each other before going to Texas. I did have a great grandfather in Neshoba but he was on the other side of my family. His name was Benjamin Roberts and he was born abt 1800 in MS and died at Neshoba about 1858/or 1859. 3. Gerry, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had so many things going on. I don't have anything on James Green or Lott Thomas and their families after 1880. I do know that Lott Thomas Green and Caroline Davidson got married, had four children and one of them, Donald Columbus Green is my grandpa. I know that James Green's first wife died young and he married Louisa Jane Jones. I think they are buried in Newton County, MS but I am not sure. I wish I could help more but I can't.
