I looked up the Military unit and the two service records to see if there were some useful clues, but there is very little about the unit. It may be that after 60 days it dissolved and the men went into other units. William died in January and there were no battles in MS that I am aware of, so I would guess that he may have contracted a contagious diseases from another soldier. The record shows a “period of service from Nov 1861 to June 1862”, but that probably doesn’t refer to their actual service.
