    1. [MSMONROE] Cemetery lookup of a CSA soldier in Aberdeen
    2. Robert C. Johnston, Jr.
    3. Dear List Members, I am new to Monroe County research and am not familiar with resources available for this county. I have been told, and confirmed through regimental histories, that one of my ancestors, James N. Phillips, a confederate soldier in Co. D, 26th/50th Alabama Infantry Regiment, was wounded and sick at a hospital in Columbus or Enterprise, MS, in June, 1862 and is said to have died at Aberdeen, MS of these wounds and sickness on May 18, 1862 and is buried there in Aberdeen in a marked grave. Is there a cemetery survey published of the older cemeteries in and around Aberdeen to see if his grave and tombstone can be found? I would like to know where he is buried and what, if any, dates and information can be found on his marker. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robert C. Johnston, Jr. Wetumpka, AL
