Being fortunate to live within a 2 hour drive, I've stayed in Monroe Co. many times. Actually, I am fortunate enough that the kids and I stay with friends and family most of the time! However, there have been times when there was too much family to intrude on the hospitality of those we love! It was during these times that we chose the Shelaine Motel in Aberdeen ... mainly because Daddy said so in the beginning! :o) The up side is they have wonderful food!! They generally serve a great buffet at lunch and a good breakfast! My children know what to expect there so we stick to the tried and true meals of the Shelaine! You'll get a nice 'retro' establishment of the 1950's/60's motel with clean and reasonable room with a traditional and reasonably priced restaurant to go with it. What you won't get is a 5 star establishment. But who needs that in Tombigbee Country? Besides, it isn't that far from downtown and the county/court records and even closer to the library ...! which is usually my destination in Aberdeen! Of course, the older, less charming Park Inn in Amory isn't functioning at the moment ... another of Daddy's favorite haunts. The charm there was it was an old railroad hotel where the train employees stayed ... and shared bathrooms with the room next door! That was fun! Where ever one stays, they are sure to meet some wonderful people, have plenty of good food, and enjoy the experience! If anyone wants tips on additional eateries, let me know ... we have tried them all!!! :o) Gracie Mayfield Morlino *********************************************************************************** Incoming and outgoing mail scanned with Norton Corp.
