Did you try looking at the Palmer Home in Columbus, MS? It is a very old orphanage and they have quite a good set of records. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 10:40 PM Subject: [MSMONROE] Orphan Court Inventory Could someone tell me where the records are located for the Orphans Court Inventory? I am searching for orphan records for my great grandfather, John Thomas Stafford b. 1879 and his brother Charles Stafford b. 1885. They were placed in an orphanage around 1887. The orphanage does not have any records. So I am hoping this new lead will help me to find the records. I believe they were in the area of Monroe, Lee or Itawamba County around this time. Family stories indicate they were on a wagon train that stopped in or around Fulton or Amory. Their mother and 2 sisters died of malaria and then a few months later their father died from a fall from a wagon. Their uncle had a large family and could not take them in so he took them to an orphanage. Hope someone can help me.
