Jim, I'm sure it would be fine for you all to attend the meeting. I've gone to a couple of Itawamba Historical Society meetings recently without being a member --- and most societies have open meetings. And they are all looking for new members! Here are the directions I was given to find my way to the meeting room (I've never been to this society's meetings either): Meeting is at Vernon on Monday, Sept 10th, at 6 P.M. in the conference room of the Lamar County Extension Service (Old Health Dept Building) on Columbus Ave about two blocks west of the courthouse.
