I suspect that the James McCullough that married Samantha P. Christian in Itawamba Co., MS, was actually James M. McCullock or McCully, son of Ephraim and Eliza McCully. In the 1860 census for Itawamba Co., MS, James McCully age 25, is the only James in the county with a name even close to McCullough. And an "M" was often mistaken for a "W" in the census transcriptions. I see Samantha P. Christian with her parents, Lemuel & Charlotte Christian, in the 1860 Itawambe Co., MS, census as well. James M. McCully (McCullough) died in Sharpsburg, Maryland, in 1862 as a result of the Civil War, I believe. I'm not related at all but find this info in records. Samantha P. (Christian) McCullock married John Stephens in May 1866 in Franklin Co., IL, probably having moved there with her family after the death of her first husband, James McCully, in the Civil War. I also see a Samantha P. McCullack marriage to William H. Martin, March 26, 1869 in Franklin Co., IL. Looks like her 2nd husband, John Stephens, might have died too. I can't tell you if this is completely accurate, but it seems to make sense from the census records. You might try to find him under the McCully spelling. Again, you'll need to validate this info through records. It's only speculation at this point. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 21, 2007 6:07 PM Subject: Re: [MSMONROE] James McCullough > Check the MILITARY RECORDS > Edd > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Frank Martin" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Tuesday, September 18, 2007 9:07 PM > Subject: [MSMONROE] James McCullough > > > > > > Seeking information on James W.
