Like Lori, I replied and figured out I had to send the message to the list. I am the proud owner of both The Monroe County History Book and Mother Monroe. In addition, I have a copy of Southern-Born and Bred, A Genealogical History of the Family of Judge Stephen A. and Mary Owen Brown of Columbus, Mississippi, Embracing Dr. W. Lowndes Lipscomb's History of Columbus, MS During the 19th Century with Addenda. Southern-Born and Bred was complied by a cousin, Estelle Rogers Vaughn, with Library of Congress Card no. 70-190701, copyright 1972. This is 2 books, with Dr. Lowndes' History first printed in 1909 and published by the S. D. Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. All three books have excellent information in them. However, with any history, and especially genealogy, you need to use the material as a blueprint only and search to validate your own information and that which you find in print. I'll be happy to do look ups for any one, but would not part with my books for love nor money! I have mad people mad because I will not loan this books out! I lucked out and located 4 copies of Mother Monroe 4 years ago and bought them all for cousins! My Daddy gave me the other 2 and they are treasures to me! As finding copies to buy ... odds are slim to none! Let me know if I can help ... please be patient with me!! My daughter is graduating this month and the schedule is tight!!
