Hey All I grew up just down the road from Barttahatchee (between Barttahatchee and Lackey) Wolfe road runs through that area all the way into Caledonia and then into Columbus. I lived in this area until about six years ago and traveled Wolfe Road fairly frequently. I don't recall seeing a monument like this at all anywhere in this area. I also use to work in Gattman for many years and drove up and down 278 into Amory a great deal and don't recall and monument there either. As for a town of Sanford, there isn't one in Monroe County in the last 38 years. Now you know sometimes towns change names...so....I suppose there could have been one way back in the day (1830's as you say)...but don't recall anyone of the elderly people speaking of it either. There is a Smithville, however. If the monument is not very old, as in the last six years, that would explain why I don't remember it. Greg do you live in Monroe county now?
