Hello all, I haven't posted for awhile. For the past 15 years I have been researching the EDGE families who settle in Monroe County in the 1840's. I have some information that may be of interest to anyone researching the Irvin and Lann families. In several of the posted Irvin trees, two of the sons of Anthony Irwin (son of Rigdon) are mentioned without much information on the linage of their wives. This information concerns Anthony's sons, Thomas Jefferson and William Robert Irvin. John Lann was an early settler in Monroe. John and his first wife, (Artesima? McKinny) had at least 5 children. Sarah B., Susan A., Henry J., James S., Thomas I. John Lann's first wife died sometime between the birth of Thomas J in 1844 and John's remarriage in 1849. On 10 December 1849 John Lann married Caroline Edge (bn between 1818-1822 NC, died 19 Feb 1888). Caroline is buried in the Lann cemetery next to John, markers 29A and B. Caroline was probably the sister of Hiram C and Thomas D Edge of Greenwood Springs, or, less likely but possible, the sister of Nathan, Jonathan and Minor Edge who settled near Gaines Trace. Both sets of Edge brothers had land in Monroe by 1849 so she could have been a sister of either set. Caroline and John Lann had three daughters together, two of whom married brothers - the son's of Anthony Irvin. The posted trees all show the linage down from this point, so I won't add that - but this will at least give you the mother of Mary and Martha Lann Irvin. Children of John Lann and Caroline Edge Lann: R E Bell Lann, first child of John and Caroline, was born abt 1850. I don't know whom she married, so if you have that I would be interested. Mary E. Lann born 4 July 1852 died 6 Sept 1927 married William Robert Irvin who was born 1 June 1852 and died on 14 Oct 1901. Martha Ellen Lann was born on 22 Aug 1859 and died 13 Dec 1934. She married Thomas Jefferson Irvin who was born on 28 Oct 1853 and died on 5 April 1938, buried in the Lann Cemetery (38a) Robin
