Dr. Robert Paine, senior bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, aged eighty-three years. There was no year in the obituary, but since this issue was published in 1882, his death date was probably Oct. 1882. He was born about 1799.

    3. According to Dr. W.A. Evan's work, Robert Paine was buried in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery, Aberdeen, MS. The transcription of his stone reads: Robt. Paine B: 2 Nov. 1799, Persons Co., N.C. D: 19 Oct. 1882. Hope this is what you're looking for.
