Hello. I'm looking for any information related to the WOODFIN family in Marshall County, MS. This family appears to have been located in the area near Waterford around 1843: John F. (b. ca 1820 TN - head); Mary Scott (b. ca. 1830 AL - wife); children: Lillian, James E., Eugene L., and Anne. All the children were baptized in Old Hudsonville Presbyterian Church before 1850. John F. WOODFIN owned 26 slaves as of 1850; the family moved to St. Francis County, AR in 1859, and by 1860 John F. WOODFIN owned 49 slaves. He may have acquired some of the 23 additional slaves through the estate of his mother-in-law Hattie SCOTT -- John was the executor of her estate. Interestingly, John F. WOODFIN had many mulatto slaves born between 1851 and 1860, and that is where my line connects to the WOODFIN line. There is an extensive WOODFIN genealogy constructed from the WOODFIN lines who arrived in the United States in the early 18th century; however, a connection for this John F. WOODFIN to the earlier WOODFINs from England is not clear. John F. WOODFIN's migration to St. Francis County AR looks to be through Tennesse -- possibly Shelby County. John F. WOODFIN died in AR in 1860, just two years after the family moved there. Thank you for your time and any clues, all of which are helpful! Deborah
