    3. Rose - I found a Sam Moorman, age 48, born in GA, in the 1880 census for Lee County, MS (in Tupelo). In the household were Mahala, wife, 44; Glenn, son, 13; John, son, 11; and Jessy Mars, stepson, 21. This Sam said he was born in Georgia, and both his parents were born in GA also. I didn't find Tom, and didn't look for the girls since I didn't know ages or marriage dates, so didn't know whether they would appear under their married names (which you have apparently given here) in 1880. I did find the following for Barney Moreman in the 1880 census: Name: Barney MOREMAN Age: 53 Estimated birth year: <1827> Birthplace: South Carolina Occupation: Farmer Relation: Self Home in 1880: Looxahoma, Tate, Mississippi Marital status: Married Race: Black Gender: Male Head of household: Barney MOREMAN Father's birthplace: SC Mother's birthplace: SC In Barney's household were Elvira, wife, 24 yrs old; Mary, sister-in-law (I think), 17; Squire, son, 15; Thomas, son, 6; Loula, daughter, 5; Adelia, daughter, 4/12 (4 months old). I tried the other avenues on Ancestry, but this was all that seemed to match. Have you checked into the rootsweb.com group for Tate County, MS? Here's the website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mstate/index.html I'm not familiar with Tate County, so I'm afraid I can't offer anything for that county. Good luck.
