When I found Wesley's marriage to Mary Josephine Hicks, I assumed - incorrectly - that Hicks was her maiden name. Wesley P. Baughman and Caleb Newton Hicks served together in the Confederacy. The marriage records of MS do show her name as Mary Josephine Hicks, I believe. Or her tombstone says Mary Josephine. When I looked for Mary Josephine Hicks in 1850 census I found Mary Hicks in the home of Joseph and Jemima Hicks and thought that was my Mary Josephine Hicks Baughman. I was mistaken. I did not know about Mary Hoover Baughman until later. Wesley P. Baughman has children by both Mary Hoover and Mary Josephine Hicks Baughman buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Benton County, MS. I still do not know the maiden name of Mary Josephine Hicks Baughman. Information on both Mary Josephine Hicks Baughman and Wesley P. Baughman and Caleb Hicks was given to me by the man who compiled the Confederate History for the county. M! ary Josephine Hicks Baughman did have older children by Caleb Hicks. Co.
