Thyatira, founded under the name "Church of Jesus Christ on Jim Wolf Creek" in 1843, is the mother church for that faith here. One of their first pastors was Starke Dupuy Jr whose father Starke Sr published the first Baptist Periodical in the Ms Valley called "The Kentucky Missionary and Theological Magazine" from Frankfort, Ky in 1812. He was sent to SW Tn as a missionary about 1818. He is credited in many older Baptist Hymnals for a number of songs he also published
