Porter b. 1829 Anson county. Some seem to want to think he abandoned his family and died in Texas but that is NOT true. He died honorably while serving in the Civil War. Co. I, 43rd Regiment NC Troops Porter, George T. Private Born in Anson Co., NC, farmer Enlisted Feb. 23, 1862 at age 33 Present or accounted for until wounded in the left lung near the Totopotomoy River, Virginia and captured on or about May 30, 1864.
