    3. Researching Thomas BATY or BEATY family of Marshall Co., MS. Thomas, b. 1880-90, and wife Rebecca (--?--) came to Marshall Co. from Hardin Co., TN. He bought land from a Chickasaw Indian in 1836. Thomas died in Marshall Co. in 1838. Children were Minerva BATY (m Samuel FARRAR), Nathan BATY (m. Mary (--?--)), Susan BATY (m. Allen G. CARTER), Andrew BATY (m. Mary Caroline HITCHCOCK), Isaiah BATY (m. Sarah HASSELL), Ashley F. BATY (m. Mary CHAMBERS), and Parmelia BATY, m. FARRAR. Wife REBECCA BATY was on the 1841 tax rolls in MS and then went to Texas, where she was on the 1850 census. In 1836, Thomas bought land (Tract 34, Town 5, Range 4W). Where is this land and are there any cemeteries near there? Where might Thomas be buried? Who were his and Rebecca's parents? When and how did Rebecca get to Texas? If you have any information at all on this family, please let me know. I will be delighted to share. Thanks, Pete Orlebeke pwo@sbcglobal.net

    3. Pete, I did not know you had Marshall County roots. As soon as I get a chance I will try to look up something for you. The land your ancestor had is in a part of the county that is today mostly unpopulated, with a few dirt roads. I was by there about a month ago, just riding around. If you can find Chulahoma on a map, it is about four miles, south, southeast, of Chulahoma. There is not even a dirt road that is a public road that goes by it. Have not seen you since you were C-I-C, how are things going out there. Bobby Mitchell, Camp 1379 Pete Orlebeke <pwo@sbcglobal.net> wrote: Researching Thomas BATY or BEATY family of Marshall Co., MS.
