J Bowen age 10 is listed in the 1850 Marshall Co, Ms census, Southern Division, pg 212, family # 52. He is listed in the household of what must be his parents, Randal A. Bowen, age 37, born in Tn a tailor, and wife Sarah A. Bowen, age 30 born in NC. Also in the household are siblings, Mary A., John W., Frances L., and Caledonia. Randal and his family are also listed in the 1860, 70, and 80 Marshall Co censi. He apparently became a farmer and did fairly well. I believe this is the same Wm J as in the Miller household, and as married Lydia Elizabeth Harris daughter of Charles B Harris, pioneer Methodist Episcopalian Circuit riding preacher in Marshall County. Wm J. became a Private in Co of the 34th Ms Infantry and was killed I believe at Perryville, will have to check my notes to be sure where he died. In the 1870 census Lydia is back living with her father.
