    3. Hi, Samuel and Mary "Polly" Johnson were uncle and aunt of my great grandfather Alexander G. Cook. On the 1850 MS Tippah county census both Alexander b. c1835 in AL and his father Hiram b. c1795 in VA were living with this family. On that census Mary and Samuel had two daughters who were living at home. They were Amanda b. c1830 in TN and Olivia b. c1831 in TN. I do not know anything about other children or how they are related to my grandfather Cook. Samuel and "Polly" were on the 1880 census in Marshall county. On the 1860 MS Marshall county census: Samuel Johnson 54 b. VA Mary C. Johnson 54 b TN Amanda Johnson 30 b. TN Olivia Johnson 28 b. TN James H. Scott 7 b. MS I would love to have any additional information that you can provide. My Alexander G. Cook married Elizabeth Jane Johnson. Her parents were Asceneth R. Myhand and William B. Johnson who were married in Dec. 1837 in Talbot Co., GA. All of the Erwin tombstones were laying on the ground covered by dirt and leaves. There are maybe 4 or 5 stones in whole cemetery still standing out of the 24 stones there. There are many unmarked graves. The cemetery has not been used in appx. 150 years. At some point it appears loggers knocked down, broke up, and pushed away some of the stones on the south edge of the cemetery.

    3. This is kinda strange, but I have a William and Sarah Ward with daughter Nancy J. They lived in GA and part of this family did move from Hall County, GA to Marshall County, MS (and later Lafayette). However, my info shows Nancy born about 1795. This is very likely the same family as they moved along with Simmons from GA, though probably not the exact same ones because of birthdates. I would be glad to share the Wards I have but I do not have a sure connections. -Ron -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of bjrubble@bellsouth.net Sent: Monday, November 15, 2004 4:13 PM To: MSMARSHA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MSMARSHA-L] William and Sarah Ward of So. I agree, they do appear to be my Julia Ruff Rogers. Unfortuneately Julia and John were on both the 1900 and the 1910 Marshall county, Census. Also, I talked to a cousin who went to her aunt Julia's funeral when this Cousin was young. This cousin was born about 19822 so I think Julia must have died between 1922 and 1935. I don't know if her husband was still alive or not. She didn't say. I do appreciate your help very much. Do keep me in mind if you happen to see this couple. I would really appreciate any clues. Thanks, Marie

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HKB.2ACI/2056.2 Message Board Post: Oh my God! I just found out last month my great great grandmother was a Hearn from Byhalia too. I found out she was married twice, which led to the confusion of her maiden name. Her name was Mary born around 1845 in NC. This is confusing since most Hearns near her age were either listed as being born in MS or TN. Someone mentioned her father might've been a Cherokee Indian. I don't know who her parents and sibblings are. One possible is Charles Hearn born in 1795 in NC. He and his family were mentioned in 1870 census but they all seem to have disappeared from any records. What connections do you find between the Hearns, Wallers, Fants, Cochran, and Neelys? I've been dying to find out. All I have is a will from Caroline Waller who gave land to some Hearns and others. I can send you copy of it in MS Word if you like. It seemed she owned alot of land. I am so glad to hear from you. Thanks!
