Check Giles County, TN and Warren County, KY. Richard Bailey married 1807 in Warren County, KY to Elizabeth Melton. This family was in Giles County, TN by 1830's, 1840's.... Very possible some of Richard's children may have gone into Mississippi, as Richard's wife's brother in law, John Grisham (married Judith Melton 1804 Warren County, KY) went to Tishomingo County, MS between 1830 and 1840. John Grisham was the brother of my ggg grandfather Thomas Grisham who died 1838 Giles County, TN. Thomas's widow Lucy (Foster) Grisham went to Tishomingo County, MS in 1850. Hope this helps.. I have looked long and hard for my 2X ggm Ophelia Wills who lived with her daughter Charity Coker, the other day while again hunting for her in 1880 [she died in 1882] I realized that Bethlehem Marshall Co is done in Alphabetic order! Households are broken up and stuffed under the letter of their last name, so if you are having trouble with Bethlehem, just go alphabetically <G> eliz

I think I need to get in on this. Tiff and I have compared some notes on the Hearns and know we are cousins. My gr-gr grandfather Alfred Hearn was born in North Carolina also. He was born March 16,1834 and died April 29. 1904. Their daughter Almer (Duck) married Charles Burton. Alma and Charles had a daughter Beatrice who married Elder Neely. I don' t have anything on the name Waller, but I can see if anyone in the family has heard of a connection. I hope to correspond more and compare what we have all found. I have a couple of Marshall County cemeteries transcribed on my website that you might also want to check out. There is also pictures of the stones. Not all of which were recovered. Only ___tin H. Erwin, son of J.A. and P.L. Erwin born ___ _9, 1847, died April 18, 1854 can be read. I went to the court house this afternoon, John Rogers married Julia Runnels on 9 Jan. 1865. (MB- "F", p. 93) John Ruff married Julia Isabella Huett on 22 Sept. 1866. I am only including this because it would give you a second Julia Ruff. (MB- "F", p. 182). I made copies of the marriage licenses of both, if you want them. Mississippi began keeping death certificates in 1912, and while the early years are very incomplete, by the 1920's and 1930' they should have been fairly comprehensive. Have you ever filed for a death certificate from the state for Julia Rogers? Bobby
-----Original Message----- From: jtopp [mailto:jtopp@midsouth.rr.com] Sent: Saturday, November 20, 2004 3:58 PM To: MSMARSHA-D-request@rootsweb.com Subject: TOPP Family - Holly Springs I am searching for Col. Dickson C. TOPP, who resided at Airliewood in Holly Springs, MS. from 1869 to (his family) 1896. I am searching for his exact date of death and burial place. I know that he was alive on June 1, 1880 according to the census taker who visited on that date, and that he was dead by Jan. 1, 1881, a span of some seven months. I have search fruitlessly for the date of death to no avail. If anyone could help shed some light on his death date it would be appreciated. I have already tried the MS. Archives and the Holly Springs newspaper, the cemeteries in Holly Springs, no luck. I had thought of the Memphis paper, since Memphis is only 40 miles away and he had a bother living there, Roberston TOPP, a twin, both prominent men, but that would be searching through six months of micro-fiche. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Jim Topp jtopp@midsouth.rr.com

Delores, Could you please check for any info in Marshall county referring to Samuel Garrison, who was there in 1860? I also find a Ulysses Garrison referred to in some records. I'm trying to find the parents of James A. R. Garrison born SC circa 1820-1824, who first shows up in Tippah County, MS in 1850. He was in Marshall in 1870, then Denton County, TX in 1880.
