It has been ages since I have posted anything. I normally sit and read and wish I were back in Holly Springs visiting my family. My Ancestors lived in the Northern Division of the Holly Springs area ie: Red Banks, Mount Pleasant etc. Would someone please tell me how I can access Land Records. Are they on-line for Marshall county? Would they be at the Court House? How early do they go back? Maybe Land Records are not what I need. Census records are not extensive enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to come and do the research myself, but I am on the Oregon coast. Thank you in advance. Lynn RODGERS Hudson GGranddaughter of John Wood RODGERS, Mahon Station, Marshall, MS.

I was transcribing a Union soldier's civil war diary and I made a push to get it finished. I have Eli Jones' family information, including his War of 1812 military record, ready to send to you. Do you have a fax telephone number? Nolan Jones
Amen to this one! There are many good county sites, including our own Marshall page which is an excellent example of a well maintained site, containing lots of local information and photos that people would not be able to access were it not for the dedication of the volunteer web master. ______________________________

I have seen that family tree before and had disreguarded it because of the Kidd last name. I know that there are Kidd's in the family (down Agatha's branch) but did not put much stock in the fact that Alfred's father was also a Kidd. Thanks for all the help and if I can be of assistance to you just let me know. Tami

I have been transcribing a civil war soldier's diary and I was pushing to get it finished. According to RootsWeb.com's Family Trees, Alfred Freeman's father was George Kidd. On RootsWeb.com National Archives, click on Search Family Trees, then do advanced search and enter Alfred Freeman b. 1806 in NC. Good Luck, Nolan

I am descended from Agatha Ann. I don't know at this time who Alfred Freeman's father was. I am still working on that. It's nice to meet a fellow cousin. I have a book of info on the Freeman line that Marilyn Berger mailed to me a few years back. I have started back on the Freeman line and also on the Jones line. I live in Savannah, Ga at this time. If I can find where Alfred came from in North Carolina I intend to make a trip there and see what might be there. Do you know what county he was from? Pat Liggett
Nolan, Do you know how Eli Jones was is Wake county, NC? Did he come there from somewhere else or was he born there? Thanks a million. Pat
Nolan, Thank you so much for your help. Pat Liggett

This is alot to ask but do you have any idea who was Alfred's father? This is a big brickwall for several researchers descended from Agatha Ann (I am guessing your line - Pat) and Thomas Gideon ( my line). I would be most greatful for any info on this family, and happy to share info also.
I am searching for information on my great-grandfather, his parents and any info. on this family. His name was J. P. (Polk or Poke) Johnson b. abt. 1855 d. bet. 1894-1900 probably in MS. The only thing I have that gives a birth date is the 1880 Lafayette Co., MS. census as being 25 years old. He was living in College Hill, Lafayette Co., MS. with his wife Drucilla. They had 2 children at that time. Their youngest son, Charlie Johnson, was born in 1894. Which gives me the approximate date of death. Because he was not on the 1900 Lafayette Co, MS. census. Unless they were living in Marshall Co., MS. at that time. I know for sure that he died at an early age. I don't know where he is buried. Some family members think it could have been on the family farm. There is also rumors of him being of Indian decent but I have no evidence of that. I know that the Johnson family share-cropped for the LESLIE family on Hwy 4, right off of Hwy. 7 just on the outskirts of HollySprings. Drucilla died there in 1938-9 and is buried in the Abbeville Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS. I'm hopin! g someone will see this query and have some information to share on this family.
