    3. Hi Folks, Haven't posted for a while but thought I'd mention something about some of the messages you might get. I have been told that when you see certain initials within the address to delete it if you do not recognize the address---especially when someone send it to you or you use "Google", etc. to search. When I saw the redir.ek.dk/PeopleFind URL I was immediately suspicious when I saw the "redir.ek.dk." as this looked to me like one of the foreign addresses I get when I get Spam on my server's blocked mail. Initials such as de (Denmark), kr (Korea), fi (Finland), ch (China), and many others that you can usually figure out---are usually being rerouted for the purposes of putting bad or obscene messages within your reach. According to my server there are thousands of people out there whose job it is to "pip" addresses which they then turn over to the websites so they can send the stuff they're selling to your address----and they do this 24/7 as they don't have to monitor their computers---just set it up and it runs the network and records all the addresses they find. Spam is very big business for some of these people and for many is the sole source of their income. If you think they're not serious just look as the mass marketers who protested against the "No Call" list for our telephones. By the way, every time we use one of the search engines we put our name and address out on the net for perpetuity. If you want to check to see how many times your address appear on any search engine just go to one of them (Google, Dogpile, Yahoo, Excite, alltheweb, altavista, Bigfoot, Lycos, MSNsearch), type in your first and last name and you will see how many times you've visted a website---including the URL for the site. One last thing and then I'll hush. If you will delete the Cookie cache and clear your History cache everyday you will have a greater chance of stopping Spam from entering your mailbox. I'll be glad to help anyone learn how to do this if they have Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is very simple and well worth doing---I usually do it as soon as I get off the websites I want to look at. Also if your ISP does not have a Spam filter then insist that they get one---that should be part of the service you are paying for. 3. Thanks, Deb. I was shocked when I opened that, expecting some great site with genealogical data. I don't normally open anything that I don't recognize, but that return address totally fooled me. Deb Haines wrote: >Alice, > >It is spam mail.
