My g-g-grandfather was Starling Vaughn (b. 1835) a mulatto born in Alabama. I believe he may have been the brother of a Thomas/Tom Vaughn as I have found them enumerated together on un-indexed county rolls. They also lived next to a white Vaughn, Robert Vaughn and F.A. Vaughn in 1880. Both Tom and Starling were born in Alabama and Tom states on the 1880 Fed. Census that his father was from S. Carolina. I have also found a white Starling Vaughn in the area as well.
