I am interested in your Newsome family line. My Newsomes are also from Lawrence County. The earliest name I have is for Jesse & Mary Newsome whose children were Emma, Macillian or Son, Bill Newsome, Fannie and a number of others. However, I found a Fredric & Mary Newsome on the 1880 Lawrence County Census with children being Emma, Macillian, Gatsy and Arlena. I believe these two are part of the same family line and have been told that Jesse had children by his wife and her sister, also. My mother's father was Macillian Newsome and he married Clara Pittman/Magee/ Dampeer (her mother's maiden name was Pittman and her father was Harley Magee). After Clara's mother married Harace Dampeer she also went by that name before her marriage to Charley Dickson/Dixson and, eventually, Macillian. Both Clara and Macillian were killed in 1941 in Mt. Olive. They had 12 children together and she had 6 with her first husband Charley. Please contact me to see if we have relatives in common.
