First, in my files I have that a Giles Thomas Loftin supposedly born in Washington Co., GA married Delilah Stephens, parents unknown. He was the son of Ezekiel Loftin, Sr. born in Dobbs, Craven County, North Carolina, who died in Oakvale, Lawrence Co., MS. and one of his two wives, Jenny Linder. There might be a pattern of migration that your Stephens family took with this family. The other thing as a clue is that my Morris family who moved to Pike Co., MS (this adjoins Lawrence Co.) and married Martha Ann McCrary of Lawrence Co., was born in Marlboro Co., SC. If the other migration pattern doesn't work, then it might be possible that a group moved to MS territory together from Marlboro Co. before the counties were named. Originally my Morris line was Quaker from Pasquotank Co., NC but my Nathan Morris became a primitive Baptist preacher before he moved to MS from Marlboro Co. Hope this might give you place to look! Ann
