My great-grandfather, Isaac "Ike" Jones, was brother to Edward Lafayette "Fate" Jones of Lawrence Co. Isaac, Elijah, Fate (all brothers), along with their father, Henry D. W. Jones, and one sister, Rebecca Jones Gunter, migrated from Alabama sometime before 1870, when all but Edward L. show up on the Neshoba Co., Miss. census. They soon moved to Walnut Grove, Leake Co. My cousin who lives in Louisville, Miss., and I (who lives in Houston, Texas) have been trying to find information about Fate Jones and his descendants. I believe that Fate had a son named Houston (H. H.) Jones, who married Lula Jones, his cousin, who lived in Walnut Grove, Leake Co., Miss. Lula was a daughter of Isaac Jones. To my recollection, Lula and Houston lived in Monticello, Miss. (I remember visiting them there when a small child), and had the following children: Ellen, Iris, Fannie Mae, and Isaac. I believe that Ellen married Hugo Dedeaux, or one of the girls did. I also seem to remember that one of them married a Bass. My mother, Mary "Katie" Jones Clifton was first cousin to these children. I would really appreciate any information that you would furnish me about this branch of my family, and of course, I would be happy to supply you with whatever I have that you want....I am still in process of searching and compiling and could gratefully use your help!
