Ms Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Lawrence/528 Surname: langston ------------------------- Debi, thank you so much for your response. It actually made me shiver all over to actually find someone who I could find some information from. When my grandfather Dolph died, Shans uncle, his son L.d. took the family bible with him.He has since past away and we have had no contact with his family in 30 years. I remember your grandfather. We visited up there on Sundays when I was a little girl. I have always felt out of place up here in Calhoun County, everyone is kin to everyone and I am kin to no one. Have not been able to get through on Family Tree Maker yet, will not open completely up for me, but will try again later. Thank you again. Jane Langston Plunk

Thanks for thinking of me! Link: Langston/Conerly URL: <http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/l/a/n/Deborah-D-Langston/>
To Anna Prewitt and all others interested in these Lawrence Co families as well as Ward, Loftin/Lofton, Sanders, McColister/McAlister, Carlisle and related descendants: A Bennett book was published in Oct 1998 by Evedene Bennett from her 40+ years of research as well as data contributed by many close and distant cousins. It is an extremely well done hard cover book - 300 pages of genealogy, photos, documents, maps, etc. There has been much new info since then and she is working on an addendum to the first book as well as an updated second printing. There is no profit involved for her in this undertaking as she sells them for printing cost plus mailing. There were no extras printed as I understood it. Anyone who wanted a book (knowing that they were from Benjamin and Delilah Bennett or a related family) sent their name and address to Evedene, and when the book was ready to go to the publisher she sent postcards describing the contents, when it would be ready and the cost. Those who sent checks received books. (I bought 2 knowing that someone would want one, and I could have used 6 more. I also want to donate one to USM's McCain Library or my local genealogy society). Anyway, if you may be interested in a copy of the update, which will likely be in the first quarter of the next year, send your name, address, phone and e-mail to: Evedene Bennett, 1525 SW Broadway, Albany, OR 97321. You can decide if you want a book when your postcard arrives. If you need to know if your family line is represented in the current book, e-mail me direct and I will check for you. I'm sure there are many more of you who can add to this work as there are plenty of gaps in descendant lines we would like to fill. Whether you buy a book or not, it would be good to have your line included and available for future generations. Posted on: Lawrence Co. Ms Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Lawrence/525 Surname: Lofton, Welch, Davis, Reeves, Stringer ------------------------- Ms. Miller, I am sharing some information sent to me on June 12 (before I left for my summer travels) by Sam Garrison of Pensacola (his email is [email protected]). He indicated he is also decended from Ezekiel Lofton Jr. down through Willis T. Lofton. He further indicated that he had found that this particular line is left out of some of the geneology books he has been looking through, so he is working on his own book to help provide information on his particular line of Loftons. I feel that his effort should be interesting to all of us who are looking at the Lofton, Davis, Welch, Reeves, Stringer and related lines. Perhaps our information could be of use to him. I hope this lead helps in your search. Carl F.
Posted on: Lawrence Co. Ms Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ms/Lawrence/524 Surname: Welch, Davis, Lofton, Reeves ------------------------- Ms. Miller, I have received many leads on our family lines. For example the following info. was sent to me earlier this year: A complete history of the Davis family can be found in "THE JAMES H. DVIS FAMILY OF WAYNE COUNTY VIA ENGLAND AND DOWN THE EASTERN SEABOARD" Library of Congress Card #87-80065. It was compiled by Mrs. Nathan L. (Annie G.) Shoemaker, Jr. of Clara MS. Annnie is quite elderly now, but very alert. She has been a DAR member for many many years, and knows the County and the history of it's people. I have not tried to contact Ms. Shoemaker. I have been on the road most of the summer presenting at conferences and have just returned to begin a new semester at the university last week. Let me know if you have had any more success in your searching. I will pass along some other items I have received as soon as I have a chance to sort through them. Hope to hear from you soon. Carl F.
