Freeman on the 1860 Laud. Co. Census was Gideon Allen Freeman b. abt. 1827 in NC. He was either the son of James Freeman or was James's younger brother. James and Margaret Freeman came to Laud. Co. between 1846-1850 because the Elizabeth A. Freeman who lived with them on the 1850 Laud. census was b. in 1846 in ILLINOIS.ELiz. was my GGGrandmother and she married into the McMullen family of Marion in Laud. The Freemans also lived at Marion. Did you find your Johnson on the 1850 Laud. census?? If not and you think they were related you might want to check out Bond Co. Illinois as I am doing now. I have made a possible connection between James in Laud. co and the Freemans of Bond Co. IL. Only just made this connection last night and have not had time to prove anything yet. By the way, there were Johnsons in Bond Co. IL but when one begins looking I guess Johnson is a common name and abounds everywhere.
