The address is: Lauderdale County Dept. of Archives & History Inc. PO Box 5511 Meridian, MS 39302 I bought a set for myself and on for my father who's mother was a Pogue from Whynot. One set is $48.00 postage and handling included, but I think you can buy just on of the Volumes if you want. Vol 2 is the one with all the family information. Vol 1 is a history of the town and surronding areas. Hope this helps.

    3. Hi Harry! It's great to hear from you again! For some reason your email came through requesting a language pack be installed and a picture attachment as well. Rootsweb does not allow attachments such as pictures sent to the list. If you would like you can re-send the email to me personally and I can see what it is and determine how to pass the information on to the list. We certainly appreciate anything you have to contribute. You can email me, Kristy, at Lauderdale@US-Gen.Com Thanks, Kristy

I apologize for the delay in responding, but my motherboard died and it has taken a lot to get my computer set up again. This photo was made in Fellowship Cemetery. I do not think this is your Aunt Susan Wells Avara. The death date on the tombstone is 1902. This appears to be a young woman and I would guess that it was made sometime between 1902 and 1918. There is a distant link in my family tree to a Jane Elizabeth Avara (1839-1910) who married Elijah Lacey....whose daughter Sarah Elizabeth Lacey (1867-1891)married John Rufus Brown, etc. However, it obviously wasn't her daughter either! My information is that Jane was from Georgia and died in Eldorado, Okalhoma. Her first husband was a constable in Lauderdale county. He was clubbed to death by a convict. There is probably a connection here to all of these Avara ancestors, but that is all I know at this time. Good luck finding your Aunt Susan!

I am still slowly transferring payroll records of the regiment from microfilm to my computer. I'm not able to work on it as much as I'd like due to work and other obligations. I had 2 grandfathers that served in Company B, which was organized in Covington County, MS. My grandfathers both lived in the northern part of Marion County, MS. I'm very familiar with the names of both your grandfathers and I've been interested and hopeful to learn even more about them. Please email me at the following address. I'm excited to learn what kind of information you have on your family members! Sincerely, Sammy Pace
