    1. Dempsey Blanks & family in Lauderdale Co. MS records
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Blanks, Cole Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GJB.2ACE/1015 Message Board Post: I am researching the family of Dempsey Blanks who appears on the Lauderdale Co. MS censuses of 1850 & 1860. From the census, it appears that Dempsey's wife Mary died between 1850-60 and that Dempsey died between 1860-70. From a published obituary, I know that their only son John died Dec. 19, 1853 in Lauderdale Co. Their only daughter, Frances, married Richard S. Cole about 1855. Richard & Frances were my great great grandparents. They were in Lauderdale Co. in 1860, Lowndes Co. MS in 1870, and Lake Co. TN by 1880. I am wondering if there are any published records for Lauderdale Co. that might assist me in my research of this family, particularly cemetery records and marriage records. I would appreciate very much any assistance that anyone could provide.

Surnames: Cole, Blanks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GJB.2ACE/934.1 Message Board Post: Vivian, My great great grandfather was Richard S. Cole who, in about 1855, married Frances Elizabeth Blanks, daughter of Dempsey Blanks of Lauderdale Co. MS. Richard & Frances appear on the 1860 Lauderdale census. I have not been able to find Richard in any Cole family in the state of MS in 1850. However, I believe he may be connected to the William L. Cole & wife Harriet that you mention. On the 1850 Lauderdale Co. census William L. Cole's household was only 5 households distant from that of William H. Blanks who was a brother of Dempsey Blanks and uncle to my great great grandmother Frances Blanks Cole. Do you have any information on any of William L. Cole's siblings & their families? I am wondering if William L. might have been my Richard S. Cole's uncle. Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.

    1. census look up for Stewart/Stuart
    2. Chris Fox
    3. I need a census look up for 1860 and 1870 for the following family: My great great grandfather Andrew Jackson Stuart aka Jackson Stewart aka A J Stuart/ A J Stewart.... I don't know the wife of Andrew but his children were Meredith Leonard Stuart born approx 1858 in Iuka MS and a daughter Leona Stuart. Meredith would be about 2 years old in the 1860 census and 12 in the 1870 census. Andrews wife was killed and the children left on a rail siding. The children lived with the McCullough/ McCullock family. This is where Meredith got the nickname Charley. Possibly find in the 1870 census. I am hoping to find information on my great great grandfather who I have information on his enlistment to the confederate cavalry in 1863 in Koscuisko MS and was listed as Jackson Stewart though he signed his name Andrew Jackson Stuart or A J Stuart. Initially he was in company k, 2nd regmt MS Cavarly. I think by 1864 he was listed in the 4th regiment. The men enlisted from this and other surrounding counties. I was told that Andrew was thought to be killed in Seven Pines but wasn't, There was a possibility he was captured in Texas at the end of the war and paroled. His wife it was said was killed perhaps when Andrew was away so between 1863 and 1865 also the children I was told were left on a railroad siding. The children lived with a family by the name I think of McCullough where meredith inherited the name Charley. Any help I would appreciate. This has been a dead end for a long time.
