Morning Bill and all; I fully believe this surname is suppose to be Morman and they were from around Coffeville in Yalobusha Co. , how this arrived on the Lafayette list was she married a Ramsey and lived in Lafayette Co. for years. I think Paul posted on the Lafayette Board instead of the Yalobusha . He said the family thinks the mother was not married. That the children were using the mother's name. I spoke with a lady at the Lafayette Co. Skipwith His/Gen Library who was a member of Calhoun Co His/Gen Society and had been researching Gen. in all three counties for years. I ask her about the Moman spelling and she said she believe it should be Morman , there was a William Morman around Coffeville for years. There was a son , William mentioned in this query. blessing : Evelyn Paris MS. --- William Ward <spencer4488@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > I checked Marriage bond book 2, which covers the > period 1855 through 1865 and did not find even one > marriage where the groom's name was MALONE. > Bill Ward > > > > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about > your family and the > areas they lived. I echo what Evelyn said about the possibility that the MOMAN surname was morphed into something more anglican, like MORMAN or MOORMAN. Proving this is another question, in view of the circumstances surrounding the childrens' birth. Bill
