Hello. While perusing the LDS website, I came upon a citation for one Allen Hodge SANDERS, who married Eliza ALBRIGHT on 17 Dec 1849 in Oxford. They had a son, William. Eliza ALBRIGHT had previously been married to Reuben SIMMONS, and they were married 29 Aug 1822 in Madison Co., GA. I am hoping someone on the list can help me with Allen SANDERS's background - I have both HODGE and SANDERS roots in Madison Co., GA, as well as links with Lafayette Co. George, I can offer you a little help with this one with an excerpt from the 1860 census. He is recorded at family # 1278. Allen SAUNDERS 33 M Farmer $1,000/$300 GA Eliza 33 F GA Mary 10 F MS Ellen 8 F MS Robert 6 M MS Nancy 2 F MS Sarah 6/12 F MS He is listed on both the 1850 and 1860 tax lists as Allen SANDERS, and owned 160 acres of land, farming corn and cotton. A Ben L. SANDERS is listed among the several dozen men who were early settlers or land speculators in Lafayette County; I mention his name only to suggest that Allen may have been lured to the area by this man, possibly a relative??? I did not find any of this family in the cemetery listings and there was no will recorded in the county for Allen SAUNDERS/SANDERS. Like so many did after the Civil War, I expect he moved his family to TX or elsewhere. This is a beginning. Perhaps someone else on the list can fill in some gaps for you.
