Hi yes it could have been done both ways just as in HUMPHREY, HUMPHRIES, HUMPHREYS. Spelling's are alway's fun but if is the right folks who cares because blood goes beyond spelling even on DOCUMENTS have docunment same family spelled two differnt ways. Such as DEED's, Wills and even Court room disputes settling property division among heirs. And on the HUMPHREYS there are some who say the H is Silent so you say UMPHREYS believe it or not. My conect is on my Mothers side who were HUMPHREYS, SIMPSON's, PARK or PARK's depends on what you look at. I have what I believe is CYRUS PARKS original copy of his LAND PATENT in both CHEROKEE CO., Texas and also in DEWITT CO., TEXAS. His for sure as it K. C. A. PARK. The PARKS were in ARKANSA in 1840 Came from TENN. where? and he was born in PA. The is one fellow who retired and moved to Maryland to figure out that Question or so I have been told. For sure if you have heard of SUTTON- TAYLOR feud in South Texas. There is a definite connect to it on the Both sides but sure on TOMILINSON's as K.C.A. PARKS wife Mahala was a TOMLINSON. She receiced five or less dollars in a will from her Uncle who was TOMILINSON. I was raised in Houston, Texas myself. TERRY
